Sarah Palin Convention Speech: "It Went Very Well"

The controversy over Bristol Palin daughter of pregnancy gave Republicans the chance to railroad the media Wednesday night.

The night formerly known as the Night of the Three Republican National Convention was devoted to "The reform and prosperity." But even more important was the party and the country, first significant look at Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who in no time has become not only a national politician, but a controversial figure and a symbolic import.

It was the night of its history, the way they care to talk teleprompter: "But we'll see, because we are open-minded about what we will be to anticipate," CNN Wolf Blitzer. Far from being an obstacle to the event, the unexpected news of the pregnancy Palin Bristol is a gift, both for the party and the press. It is a projector on a favorite Republican enemy, "the media", in which criticism of slightly more than they deserved, for a story about a story. And he gave the press, which was boring for a convention, both a story and the operation of a new opportunity to talk about themselves.

Mitt Romney, the parade of former opponents who have preceded Palin. It was a little dour and warmongering. Mike Huckabee followed, measured and somewhat humorous and pastoral. He opened with a good joke: "I am very happy to speak here on behalf of my second choice for the Republican candidate for the presidency."

Rudy Giuliani later stand-up comedy routine had another, much sour tone, even his statement that Barack Obama was the emergence of "remarkable" played like a chain reaction. (Never have the words "community organizer" is pronounced in this horror as they were Wednesday evening in St. Paul.) It was frequently interrupted by chants of "USA" and other things I could not do that.

Palin immediately followed Giuliani, his introductory video nixed to save time. It is expandable, but in any case, as his speech at the same time a family album and a clarification of his case. They very well with the teleprompter, given the speed with which it has been hustled in this position. He secured an impressive performance, both friendly and brutal people into the ranks.

When Palin was up to the end of McCain and his wonderful family - it looks like Grandpa in this mixture is perhaps not a bad thing - it is difficult to see how it could be a valuable asset to the campaign.
